Currituck Education Foundation Scholarships
The Currituck Education Foundation is honored to award the following scholarships to graduating seniors from Currituck County High School and JP Knapp Early College High School.
• Currituck Education Foundation Scholarship - The Currituck Education Foundation Endowment is proud and honored to be able to provide scholarships to support the students in the Currituck County Public Schools.
• Etheridge-Meiggs Family Scholarship - The Etheridge-Meiggs Family Scholarship Endowment was established to honor the contributions of these two families to Currituck County's strong educational tradition.
• Roy Lee Etheridge Sr. Family Scholarship - The Roy Lee Etheridge Sr. Family Scholarship Endowment was established to honor the memory of Karen Etheridge's late husband Roy Lee Etheridge.
• Jackie Carl Simmons Scholarship - The Jackie Carl Simmons Scholarship Endowment was established to honor the memory of Jackie Carl Simmons. Jackie was a Currituck County School Board Member and retired teacher. He was a passionate educator and was proud of his service to the community as a School Board Member. He believed that students could greatly benefit from vocational programs in schools.
• Will Crodick Agricultural Scholarship - The Will Crodick Agricultural Scholarship Endowment was established to honor Will Crodick by helping young people interested in agriculture achieve success in their education. Will Crodick was a dynamic man. He served on the Currituck County Board of Education from 2016 to 2020 and won the election to do so again just before he passed away late last year (2022). Will had a "students first" attitude and as Commissioner Owen Etheridge stated, "(Will) was dedicated in his goals for Currituck County Schools." Will also owned and loved his peach orchard, farm, and winery. He produced wines, peach slushies, and jams among other quality products for not only our community but for those that would travel long distances to enjoy his pick your own fruits and activities for children. Will had a strong voice in our community and we are honored to have a part in continuing his legacy.
• Wilson Snowden Scholarship - The Wilson Snowden Scholarship Endowment was established by Leeward Renewable Energy to honor the memory of Wilson Snowden and his service to the volunteer fire departments. The funds from the endowment will be used to provide scholarships to ensure Currituck County Fire-EMS workers can continually remain on the cutting edge of safety practices. This also matches Leeward Renewable Energy's commitment to the community and public safety. The scholarships will be available to graduating seniors, Currituck County employees and volunteers with Currituck Fire-EMS who are pursuing an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science / Paramedic / Emergency Management / Fire Science.
These scholarships are made possible with the support from the Currituck Education Foundation Endowment, a component fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation.
