Welcome to the Currituck Education Foundation homepage!

The Currituck Education Foundation supports public education in Currituck with funding to meet needs, in order to create an engaged, educated community. Founded in 2016, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and we have engaged in fundraising and collecting donations to make our schools better here in Currituck County. We are growing stronger but need your support in order for us to help our educators and school personnel. We seek businesses and individuals who are willing to partner with us to best support and benefit the education of our students. We are proud to support the students and educators in the Currituck County Public Schools!

Nonprofit of the Year Award 2025

The Nonprofit of the Year award is given each year to honor an outstanding nonprofit.

We have the honor of recognizing an extraordinary organization that has made an immense impact on our community, we honor an organization whose heart beats for the future of Currituck — one whose mission is rooted in lifting up classrooms, empowering educators, and investing in students. This year's Nonprofit of the Year is one that meets needs where they are, builds lasting capacity, and transforms lives one school at a time.

This organization isn't just a supporter of education — it is a catalyst for possibility. Since its founding in 2016, this nonprofit has committed itself to strengthening public education in Currituck County — providing mini-grants, scholarships, and innovative support where it matters most.

Through its Teacher Supply Store, housed at Currituck County Middle School, the Foundation ensures that educators don't have to shoulder the cost of classroom necessities from their own pockets. Teachers may shop monthly at no cost for supplies they need — a concrete way this nonprofit invests directly in teaching and learning.

Each year, the Foundation awards mini-grants for creative classroom projects. In 2025 alone, four distinct projects were funded:

A yearbook design upgrade at JP Knapp Early College High School

Sensory water play enhancements at Moyock Elementary School

A courtyard revitalization at Currituck County Middle School

And a "Shad in the Classroom" dissection initiative to engage young scientists in environmental learning at Currituck County Middle School

Their commitment to sustainability and long-term impact also shines through their endowment efforts. In 2020, donations, grants, and partnerships — including gifts from the Roy Lee Etheridge Sr. Family and Etheridge-Meiggs Family Scholarship Endowment funds — helped establish a permanent endowment supporting the Foundation's mission in perpetuity.

This organization does more than allocate funds — they build trust, create opportunity, and connect resources with real classroom needs. They strive to ensure every student has a chance to flourish, that every teacher is supported, and that the promise of education is not limited by funding gaps.

We recognize not just what they do, but how they do it — with thoughtfulness, integrity, and faithful service to our region's young people and educators.

It is my great honor to present the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year Award to... Currituck Education Foundation.

Please join me in celebrating their vision, impact, and dedication to our community's future.
